Right on Greek border and hugging the edge of the large lake of the same name, the small town of Dojran is in actual fact two small villages known as Star Dojran and Nov Dojran respectively. Originally a much larger settlement that was almost completely destroyed during fighting between the Bulgarians and the British during the First World War, today’s Dojran is a fascinating mixture of history and modernity and is worth thinking about as a place to stay for a day or two as part of a longer trip around North Macedonia.
